there are lyrics from a song written and performed by neil young
i’d like to share them with you.
“This Old Guitar”
This old guitar ain’t mine to keep
Just taking care of it now
It’s been around for years and years
Just waiting in its old case
It’s been up and down the country roads
It’s brought a tear and a smile
It’s seen its share of dreams and hopes
And never went out of style
The more I play it, the better it sounds
It cries when I leave it alone
Silently it waits for me
Or someone else I suppose
This old guitar, This old guitar, This old guitar
recently i had the good fortune of being in the right place, at the right time, with the right people. and i got to do my thing. on a martin guitar. i know – shut the front door right! i, me, had the opportunity to take a piece of art – a c.f. martin guitar and add my art to it.
and then it sunk in – who did i think i was that i could take this instrument, made by people who are passionate about what they do and what they make – and draw on it. as i have had to do many times – i had to eat my elephant one bite at a time.
the first bite – confidence
second bite – respect
third bite – purpose
and i have finished them!
a special thanks to jenn at cbc, and Roey. you know why.
